Seems like nearly everybody is blogging these days. They even encourage this activity in schools! Heck, Grandma’s blogging and military personnel and bloggiing, even the President of the United States admits to blogging! "Blog" is actually short for "Weblog," which have existed since the beginning of Usenet newsgroups. Weblogs are much the same as a newsgroup, with one person in charge, as opposed to a group of members. That one person writes the main entries on various topics, and other people who are registered can comment on the entries. Weblogs eventually evolved into blogs, which are web based as opposed to Usenet newsgroups, which are not typically available through a web browser. Today, blogs have evolved and are used for a variety of purposes. In fact, they can be used for almost any purpose you can imagine. Individuals use them to share their views and opinions on various issues and topics with anyone who is interested in reading these able to view them and even respond with their own opinions Families around the world use blogs as a way to stay in touch, keeping everyone in the family informed of the latest going-ons. Companies now blogs to keep customers and employees up-to- date. And, some people use them as personal journals. And, as you may havce guessed, many groups of people with shared interests use them to learn from each other and share information. Blogging is very easy and you can start your own bolg in just minutes. Beginners are usually better off starting with a very simple blog at Blogger ( http://www.blogger.com ). Blogger is a free service that simplifies the bloggin start-up process. Simply sign up, decide what you will write about, and start blogging. Blogger is great for beginners because it leads you through all the steps for creating a blog, and explains things as you go along. What you write for your blog is called an entry or a post. You can post several times each day, once a day, several times a week, once a week, once a month, or just whenever the urge strikes you. If you are using blogger, you simply login to your free account at Blogger, and click the blog button. A page will open up where you can write what you want to say. You can spell check what you’ve written, and if you are referring to information in somebody else’s blog, you can choose to send a Trackback (recommended) to that other persons blog. Trackbacks are used when you refer to what someone else has written on a different blog. This is a very common practice in the blogging community, and it is part of what makes blogging so great. When someone reads that entry on that other person’s blog, they will see all the Trackbacks that this particular entry has received. If they want more information or seek additional opinions on the topic being blogged about, they can click on those Trackback links to read what others had to say. But before you begin your own blog, let's take a quick look at "pinging." You see, each time you update your blog with a new entry, you can "ping" services such as Weblogs or Feedster. These services update their subscribers to let them know what blogs have been recently updated. You can ping such services automatically through Ping-O-Matic at http://pingomatic.com at no charge. It is very fast, very simple, and very effective. Learn more by visitng: WordPress Content
