Interested in being self-employed FT online, working from home? Do this:

1) Set up a profile at freelance job boards like Elance.com and lots of other boards out there and start bidding, creating & using templates you make to be more efficient with bids.

2) Update your resume, hiring professional help to do this, if you need to, and post it online with a nice Freelance website to showcase your work samples, resume, client testimonials, etc. Update this resume frequently with news, like a new Board position you may have in groups you are active in, new certifications, awards, etc. you may have, new workshops you’ve attended. Here’s mine as an example, doesn’t have to be fancy: Diana Barnum Resume

3) Submit your resume through ResumeRabbit or other submissions service; they are excellent. Seek part time and contract work. The submission they put out on the web can send offers your way for years.

4) Head to the USA government's Small Business Administration (SBA.gov) site and SCORE.org with free help, online courses, ezine issues and lots more linked all over the sites, even free consulting via email.

5) Keep networking here and other online forums in your niches & offline, locally, through groups and volunteer work, business meetings announced in your newspaper, etc. to keep current with news, find workshops, competitions, etc. in your area and niches.

6) Seek part time and contract work from employment agencies in your area, and popular online classified ad sites that are cheap or free like Craigslist.com.

7) Market yourself and your services and add products into the mix, even if only affiliate products. Print out and on a regular basis, review:

One of the best ways to get the most out of your advertising and marketing campaign is using basic SEO techniques, and by submitting your site to the search engines.

No amount of press releases, newspaper ads, banner ads, email or newsletter advertising will achieve the same results.

That's not to say that they aren't effective and that you shouldn't use them but studies have shown that search engine traffic can be much more beneficial.

The best way to submit your website for search engine ranking and inclusion is to do it yourself or to hire an expert to do it manually.

Beware of companies that promise automatic submission of your website to hundreds of search engines. These are scams and you will get NO benefit from doing this.

Before you begin to submit your website to search engines ensure your websites are thoroughly designed to the professional quality using the right keywords, good graphics and pictures and the relevant content.

Do not submit websites that are incomplete as this will harm your rankings.

While submitting to a search engine, make sure to provide information about your website, keywords and any other information that may be pertinent - including the name and contact information of your business.

There are thousands of new websites being picked up every day by the search engines, so simply submitting to a search engine does not guarantee that your site will be immediately listed or ranked highly. It may take quite sometime before your site is reviewed by human editors.

5-Step Plan - How to Find a Profitable Niche!

In the last lesson we discussed the 3 ideal things you need to look for in a profitable niche market:

1. Longevity
2. High demand
3. Profitability

Due to a lack of space we were only able to touch on the first two points (Longevity and High Demand), so today we will discuss the third... Profitability.

Profitability:

Your niche needs to have potential customers who are ready, willing and able to spend money. The more they are able to spend, the more profitable the niche!

Ok. But how do you know if your niche market will be profitable?

Let's take the mobile ring tone market for instance. While there may be huge demand for this type of service, the targeted customer base is typically people under 18 who have no credit card to join a subscription service.

Now we're not saying you can't make money with mobile ringtones. This is no doubt a very profitable industry, but the spending power of your potential customers is very limited.

It is also very difficult to sell something when you can freely access or download it from the internet.

A good example of this is cocktail mixing recipes. Yes we're sure that there are people who do buy books on how to make cocktails. But anyone can simply do a search on the internet and find free instructions on how to mix any cocktail they like. So it would be hard to compete in this market.

Ok. Let's look an example of a Profitable niche?

We have previously mentioned the golf niche so we'll continue to use this niche as an example.

Even if you do not like golf yourself and you know nothing about it, you probably realize that people who do like golf tend to spend thousands of dollars on this passion. And because they spend so much money, it can be a very lucrative market to target.

In fact, any niche which involves a strong passion tends to be extremely lucrative. Some examples include gardening, crocheting, dogs, coin collecting, cars & motorcycles, camping, home improvement, sports collectables, etc.

Notice something similar with all of these niches? They all revolve around hobbies or special interests and these normally invoke strong passion.

As a rule of thumb, most niche markets that target hobbyists or special interest groups can be very lucrative markets because these people are very passionate about their particular topic.

And provided it has longevity, plus has a high demand AND fulfils the profitability test, then you may well have an excellent niche to target and you are ready to go to Step 2.

5-Step Plan - Finding a Profitable Niche

In a previous post here we mentioned three ideal things you need to look for in a profitable niche market:

1. Longevity
2. High demand
3. Profitability

Today we're going to discuss these in detail.

1. Longevity:

Niche markets with longevity are what I like to refer to as Evergreen. In other words, they're somewhat timeless.

They're not just a passing fad that will be gone in six months or a year. They have longevity and demand will be around for years to come. You don't want to focus on niches that are short-term.

For example, promoting a product such as PlayStation 3 (PS3) has short-term demand. Once new technology is released this product becomes virtually obsolete and you're customer base quickly diminishes.

However, focusing on the photography niche could be very profitable.

People in this niche are passionate about their hobby and are usually long-term enthusiasts that will be involved in this market for a long time. So you will always have a highly targeted customer base.

This means that once you've established yourself in a particular Evergreen market like this, you can continue profiting from them for many years to come.

2. High Demand:

Secondly you need to ensure your niche market has a high demand. It needs to be "hot" with a ready supply of people who are searching for products or services relating to your niche.

You can determine the demand of your niche by performing some simple online market research that can be done for free.

Go to www.google.com and search for the main keywords relating to the market you are researching.

Here you are looking for two things. The number of search results and how many Google Adwords advertisements are in the far right hand column.

The list of Google Adwords ads represents the advertisers who are paying to advertise the keyword you searched on. Most are advertising an affiliate product or their own website that sells a product related to your keyword phrase.

If there is a list of advertisers regularly filling the page, then chances are this is a popular niche. Advertisers won't continue to spend money unless they were getting a solid return.

You can confirm high demand by checking the number of keyword searches for the main keyword phrase for your niche market to ensure there is enough demand.

Simply go to the Google Keyword tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and insert your main keyword phrase and see how many searches are performed each month for various keywords in this niche.

For example, if you were researching the "crocket" niche, you would search for the term "crochet" (which by the great longevity) and you will find that there is an average of 368,000 searches per month for the term "crochet patterns".

This tells us that there is a huge demand in this niche and it would definitely be advisable to some further research to determine if was worth targeting this niche.

But there is one more step you need to do before you start promoting to this niche market... Profitability!

Today's topic is:

keyword research and tools that you can use to find the best keywords and phrases.

When you are doing your keyword research, a good rule of thumb is to choose keywords that are frequently searched for and are in high demand, but not being used by to many other websites and competitors.

Keyword research can be broken down into a three step process.

Begin with the discovery phase. In this step you want to focus on identifying as many keywords or phrases as possible.

Initially you need to sit down and make a list of keywords or keyword phrases that describe the topic of your website.

You can do this by jotting down descriptive words that come to mind, and by using your dictionary. At this point include every word or phrase that you can think of.

To help make this job much easier there are several keyword tools that are available to help you generate a keyword list. Some of these tools are free, like GoodKeywords.com and Google's Adwords Tool while others are fee based.

With these tools you will be able to generate hundreds of keyword phrases quickly and easily.

I prefer the Google Keyword Tool. This is a free tool that generates potential keywords, as well as allowing you to analyse statistics, including search performance, seasonal trends.

This has some very useful features that include:

- Sorting the results of your desired keyword search by popularity, past performance history within the AdWords system, cost, and predicted ad position.

- Easy keyword manipulation where you can select a few keywords here and there or add them all at once.

- More keyword results are generated based on regularly updated usage statistics database. This helps you to get new keywords or phrases.

It also provides you with tips on how to use the tool to get the best results so that you can easily narrow down your final selection of keyword phases.

In an earlier blog post here we discussed the benefits of promoting tangible (physical) products and how this can convert into sizeable profits.

Over the next few posts we're going to be focusing on a 5-step *no cost* plan that will show you how to perform the following steps to setup your system:

2. How to select a network

4. Creating your site
5. Writing your content.

But before we start we feel compelled to mention the obvious...

The very first step is to choose the niche market you want to target. How you select your particular niche is up to you.

Ideally what you need to look for is a niche market that has:
